Pre-Seed Closed: Building the Florete Core and Workspace
ReteLabs has closed its Pre-Seed round: we have received funding from a private investor. The money goes into the core of the Florete platform and into its first commercial edition — Florete Workspace.
One core, three editions:
- Edge Mesh for mobile nodes (drones, ground robotics, IoT),
- Service Mesh for hybrid clouds,
- Workspace for corporate connectivity.
The control plane and the node agent are the same code in all three — work on the Workspace MVP builds the foundation the other two stand on.
Workspace comes first because its pain is the sharpest and its cycle the shortest. Access to external development infrastructure breaks unpredictably, and the corporate VPN gateway remains a single point of failure: when it goes down, the whole team stops. A day of downtime for a team of 20 developers in Russia costs around 200,000 ₽.
The MVP is a cloud control plane plus an agent on the nodes. The control plane computes the network topology and distributes policies; agents keep a self-healing mesh over heterogeneous channels and reroute around failures. Relay nodes run on the customer's own infrastructure — not a single byte of user traffic passes through us. Every connection carries mTLS with a cryptographic identity of the node (X.509-SVID).
Edge Mesh moves on its own track: we are advancing it together with industrial partners, in engineering programs funded separately from this round.
The core stays open. Development continues in the open on GitHub under Apache 2.0 / MIT, written in Rust, using QUIC — https://github.com/rete-labs/florete.
